Four area lawmakers are taking part in a fresh effort by the Legislature to find new ways to help financially strapped cities and towns.
MONEY TROUBLES
The lawmakers, who include House Ways and Means Committee chairman Robert A. DeLeo, are members of the Municipal Relief Commission, a joint House-Senate panel the Legislature is establishing to study potential municipal revenue-raising and cost-saving measures.
In addition to DeLeo, a Winthrop Democrat, local legislators on the 14-member panel are state Representative Paul J. Donato, a Medford Democrat; and state Senators Anthony W. Petruccelli, an East Boston Democrat, and Bruce E. Tarr, a Gloucester Republican. (Boston Globe - Full Story)
