Revere FD to receive three new fire trucks next month
REVERE - City firefighters will get an early Christmas present with the mid-December delivery of a new ladder truck and two engines heading for local stations.
"They are at the dealers in Walpole and we should have them in Revere by Friday. Firefighters will train on them next week and they will be lettered and have radios installed," said Fire Chief Eugene Doherty on Tuesday.
The trio replaces two fire engines and a ladder truck that have aged past their recommended operating life and are saddling the city with big repair bills and potential risk to firefighters.
Mayor Thomas Ambrosino plans to reduce the $1.7 million price tag for three new trucks with a $150,000 donation from the Stop & Shop grocery chain and other city money sources.
