Letters to the Editor
By George Rotondo
Your editorial “Chill out, Revere” (May 6) gave the impression that the Revere City Council was overreacting.
Well this was a chaotic scene as menacing teens shook seniors’ cars, blocked streets and prevented people from entering the hospital. Revere Beach has the largest concentration of seniors in the city, so who would have been responsible if an ambulance was needed?
I do agree, however, that metal detectors at Revere T stations aren’t the solution. We need more state troopers. Revere is required to provide medical aid and police service to a state-owned beach - an unfunded mandate. The state must do its part.
