Volunteers needed for Revere Beach cleanup

REVERE - Celebrate World Oceans Day with the New England Aquarium and help clean up Revere Beach just as the summer season begins.

Teams of volunteers are needed to clean up debris on Revere Beach between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 6. Volunteers are to meet on the beach across the street from Kelly's Roast Beef.

The World Oceans Day Beach Clean-Up is a part of a weekend-long celebration at the New England Aquarium designed to educate the public about ways we can all live with greater consideration for the environment and the oceans.

The Aquarium will provide garbage bags and safety instructions. A limited supply of gloves will be available; please provide your own if possible. Educators will be present to answer questions and explain the unusual objects, both man-made and natural, found on urban beaches.

Volunteers will receive a coupon for one free child's admission to the Aquarium to be used on June 6 or 7 with the purchase of an adult ticket.

Two other beaches to cleaned on June 6 in the metro-Boston area are Carson Beach in South Boston and Wollaston Beach in Quincy. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to use public transportation to travel to the beaches. Online registration is required. To register, or for more information, visit www.neaq.org/cleanup.
