Boxford - There are worse ways to go out. The Savio Prep boys basketball team’s final season in 2007 ended with state hardware — they won the Division 4 North and Eastern Massachusetts titles.
After that season, later in the spring, the school closed its doors. Most of the underclassmen ended up moving over to Pope John in Everett, but new Masconomet basketball head coach Frank Shea was out of a boys basketball coaching job.
“I was out of coaching last year, and I was looking at jobs that would interest me, and Masconomet was definitely a job that interested me,” Shea said.
He certainly has good memories of that last year at Savio Prep.
