Sinéad O'Connor is 42

Sinéad O'Connor was born in Dublin. She is the middle of five children, sister to Joseph, Eimear, John, and Eoin. Joseph O'Connor is now a notable novelist. Her parents are Sean O'Connor, a structural engineer later turned barrister, and Marie O'Connor. The couple married young and had a troubled relationship, separating when Sinéad was eight. The three eldest children went to live with their mother, where O'Connor claims they were subjected to frequent physical abuse.

She has four children: a son, Jake Reynolds, by her first husband, John; a daughter, Róisín Waters, by The Irish Times columnist John Waters; another son, Shane, whose father is Irish folk musician and record producer Dónal Lunny; and her fourth child, Yeshua Francis Neil, born on 19 December 2006 whose father is her former partner Frank Bonadio. O'Connor formally announced to Paul Martin in the Irish Daily Mirror that the two had broken up as of the weekend of 17 February 2007, citing difficulties between Bonadio and his former wife, singer Mary Coughlan. O'Connor currently resides in a rambling Victorian house overlooking the sea at Bray (a town on the outskirts of Dublin), close to the home Bonadio shares with his children and just around the corner from Coughlan's apartment.

Even tho she's been controversal at times, she has a beautiful voice.

I absolutely love this song "Nothing Compares 2 U", written by Prince. A few people have recorded this, including Prince himself, but nothing compares to Sinead's version.

  2. It is an extremely depressing song, but she sings it so beautifully. Words are below:

It's been seven hours and fifteen days
Since you took your love away
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away
Since you been gone I can do whatever I want
I can see whomever I choose
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
    But nothing
I said nothing can take away these blues
    `Cause nothing compares
    Nothing compares to you

It's been so lonely without you here
Like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
Tell me baby where did I go wrong
I could put my arms around every boy I see
But they'd only remind me of you
I went to the doctor n'guess what he told me
    Guess what he told me
He said girl u better try to have fun
    No matter what you'll do
    But he's a fool
    `Cause nothing compares
    Nothing compares to you

all the flowers that you planted, mama
    In the back yard
All died when you went away
I know that living with you baby was sometimes hard
But I'm willing to give it another try
    Nothing compares
    Nothing compares to you
    Nothing compares
    Nothing compares to you
    Nothing compares
    Nothing compares to you
